キッチンを考える時、鉛筆を使います。
CADやデザインアプリで描き始めればすぐ絵にはなるけれど、アムスタイルの心を映し出したキッチンの姿は、画面の中よりも紙の上で、より生き生きとその姿を現していきます。
お客様やスタッフからアドバイスを求められたとき、ガサガサっと鉛筆で描いてみる。するとキッチンが完成したときの、その場の中での重さ感や軽さ感といった、デザインという作業では表しきれない間のようなものが見えてきます。
“Calacatta Violaceo”との出会い。この自然石はイタリアAntolini社のマーブルコレクションのひとつです。自然石の持つ力。白が本当に深く透き通っていて、赤は濁っていたり、濃厚だったり、淡かったり。まさに自然石だからこそ現われた色と柄が心を打ちます。
この石に出会った時。このキッチンのカタチは決まっていたのでしょう。
絵画だって、音楽だって、名作と呼ばれ長い年月に渡り愛されてゆくものの誕生は、一瞬のことなのかもしれません。
アムスタイルのキッチンも、そんなふうに存在していくことができる。そんな気がするのです。
Calacatta Violaceo – The Instant
I reach for a pencil when envisioning a kitchen. While CAD and design apps can instantly produce a visual, the essence of an amstyle kitchen—the spirit within—cannot be so easily captured on a screen.
When asked for advice—by a client, by my team—I sketch. It is in these lines that I begin to see the kitchen’s eventual presence: its sense of gravity, its levity, and those subtle intervals of space beyond the word “design”.
Calacatta Violaceo is a marble from Italy’s Antolini. There is a profound power in this natural stone. The whites are deep and transparent, while the reds shift from dense and clouded to pale and delicate. It is because these colors and patterns are born of nature that they resonate deeply.
The moment I encountered this stone, the kitchen had already revealed itself.
In painting, as in music, the birth of something destined to be loved for generations is perhaps a moment.
I feel that an amstyle kitchen, too, can exist in such a way.
